Terms of Service

Effective date: September 9, 2026 Last updated: September 9, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and ThePaperRoute, Inc., a Delaware corporation doing business as Paper Route ("Paper Route," "we," "us"). They govern your use of paper-route.com, our subscription service, and any forms, links, or tools we provide for submitting content.

By purchasing a subscription, submitting content, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy at paper-route.com/privacy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What Paper Route is

Paper Route produces a printed monthly magazine for one person (the "Recipient"), made from photos, stories, updates, and other material contributed by that person's family and friends. We use artificial intelligence to help collect, organize, write, and lay out each issue, guided by what contributors submit and by the interests and topics provided during onboarding. Before an issue prints we send a proof to the Subscriber, or to a family member the Subscriber designates, so it can be checked and corrected.

2. Who these Terms apply to

Subscribers and Contributors must be at least 18 years old. A parent or legal guardian may submit content on behalf of a child.

3. The Recipient

The Subscriber represents that they are the Recipient, or that they have the Recipient's permission (or the permission of the Recipient's legal representative) to provide the Recipient's name, mailing address, biographical details, and interests to us and to have issues mailed to the Recipient.

Issues are personal. We produce them only for the Recipient and the family and friends around them. We will not use any part of an issue, or any content submitted for it, for marketing, testimonials, examples, or any purpose other than producing that Recipient's issues unless every Contributor whose content is involved and the Recipient (or their legal representative) have given us permission.

4. Subscriptions, pricing, and billing

Plans. We offer two plans:

Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any applicable taxes.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize us and our payment processor to charge your payment method on each renewal date. For annual subscriptions, we will email you a reminder at least 30 days before each renewal.

Cancellation. You may cancel at any time. To cancel, email support@paper-route.com from the email address on your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again, and any issue already in production for the current period will still be mailed.

Refunds. Payments are non-refundable except that (a) we will refund any charge made in error, and (b) we will reprint or credit any issue that is damaged, misprinted, or lost in the mail through no fault of the Subscriber, provided you tell us within 30 days of the expected delivery date. If an annual subscriber cancels mid-year, we refund the unused whole months remaining in the year. Service ends after the issue for the current month, and the subscription does not renew.

Price changes. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. A price change applies from your next renewal after the notice period. If you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before that renewal.

One payer. Each subscription is paid by a single Subscriber. We may offer shared or split payment in the future; if we do, we will publish separate terms for it.

Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment transaction.

5. Issues and delivery

Schedule. We mail one issue per month, timed to reach the Recipient in the first week of the month. Each issue has a content deadline that we communicate to Contributors in advance. Content submitted after the deadline goes into the following issue.

Every month ships. If Contributors submit little or nothing in a given month, we still produce and mail an issue. In that case we fill the issue with content based on the Recipient's interests and the topics provided at onboarding, subject to the accuracy commitments in Section 7.

Format. Issue length, page count, and standing sections may vary and may change over time as we improve the product.

Delivery. Issues are printed by Paper Route and sent by U.S. Mail to the Recipient's address on file. The Subscriber is responsible for keeping that address current. We are not responsible for delays or loss by the postal service, but we will replace a lost issue as described in Section 4.

Proofing. Before an issue prints, we send a proof to the Subscriber or a family member the Subscriber designates. The proof is sent on the 22nd and the issue goes to print on the 27th, so the proofer has five days to flag corrections. If we don't hear back within that window, we print the issue as proofed by us.

6. Content you submit

Ownership. You keep ownership of everything you submit.

License to us. By submitting content, you grant Paper Route a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, edit, crop, caption, summarize, rewrite, translate, and reproduce that content, and to process it with automated and AI tools, solely to produce, print, mail, and (if needed) reprint the Recipient's issues and to operate and support the service. This license ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except that printed issues already produced are not affected.

What you promise about your content. You represent that:

Who sees it. Content you submit will appear in a printed issue that the Recipient will read and that other family members and visitors may see. Other Contributors to the same Recipient may see your content during proofing. Do not submit anything you would not want the Recipient's household to see.

Our discretion. We may decline, edit, shorten, or hold any submission, and we may remove content from a planned issue at a Contributor's or the Recipient's request before it prints. We do not review content for accuracy beyond what is described in Section 7.

Withdrawal. A Contributor may ask us to stop using their content in future issues at any time by emailing support@paper-route.com. We cannot recall issues already printed or mailed.

7. AI-generated content and accuracy

Much of the writing, editing, and layout in each issue is produced with AI tools working from what Contributors submit and from the interests provided at onboarding. AI can make mistakes. Names, dates, and relationships come from what Contributors tell us rather than from the AI, and we never let an automated tool identify a person in a photograph. Pages built from sports results, news, or public events record the sources they were written from. We ask a family member to proof each issue before it prints. Even so, an issue may contain errors, omissions, or wording that a Contributor would have phrased differently.

Issues are personal keepsakes, not a news service or a record of fact. Do not rely on an issue for medical, financial, legal, or other decisions. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it in the next issue and, where the error is ours and material, reprint at our expense.

8. Future features: photo libraries and social media

We may in the future offer optional features that let a Contributor connect a phone photo library or a social media account so that we can gather content with less effort. These features do not exist yet. If and when we offer them, we will ask for your explicit, separate permission before accessing anything, we will explain exactly what we access and how it is used, and you will be able to disconnect at any time. Nothing in these Terms gives us access to your device or accounts today.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to harass, impersonate, or harm anyone; to submit content on behalf of someone who has not agreed; to submit malware or attempt to interfere with our systems or vendors; or to use any content from an issue that is not yours for any commercial purpose.

10. Our intellectual property

The Paper Route name, logo, website, templates, layouts, and software are ours or our licensors'. The selection, arrangement, and design of each issue as a whole belong to Paper Route, but the Subscriber and Recipient may copy and share printed issues for personal, non-commercial family use.

11. Privacy

How we collect, use, store, and share personal information, including the Recipient's information and Contributor content, is described in our Privacy Policy. It is part of these Terms.

12. Disclaimers

The service and every issue are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy. We do not guarantee that issues will be error-free, that every submission will be included, or that issues will arrive by any particular date.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Paper Route and its officers, directors, employees, and vendors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising out of or related to the service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so some of them may not apply to you.

14. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Paper Route against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from content you submitted, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of anyone's rights.

15. Termination

You may end your subscription as described in Section 4. We may suspend or end your subscription or your ability to contribute if you breach these Terms, if payment fails and is not cured within 10 days, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue the service or terminate without cause, we will refund any prepaid amount for periods after termination.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the state where you live. Before filing any claim, you agree to email us at support@paper-route.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will email Subscribers at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the new Terms. If you don't, cancel before that date.

18. General

If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the service.
